New AMK Town Council Office @ Sengkang West

During my routine house visits, I have received many feedback from Sengkang West residents that the current arrangement of having to travel all the way to the Town Council offices at Ang Mo Kio Ave 1 or 10 to settle payments or other town council matters to be rather inconvenient.  This is especially so, when there are no direct buses connecting Sengkang West to these places.

I am glad to annnounce that from October 2011, there will be a new town council office at Block 410 @ Fernvale to serve the residents of Sengkang West.  The Property Manager and his Property Officers will also be based  in this new premise  (instead of the Ang Mo Kio office currently) so that they can respond to residents’ compliants and feedback more expeditiously.  Sengkang West residents also do not need to travel so far to tend to their town council errands in the future.

  1. We need more schools, childcare as sengkang west are mostly young couples with young kids and babies!

if no childcare or school are being built, we will have bigger and more serious problem (than traveling to AMK town council) in a few years time…

Yes we will be addressing these needs as well. In fact there will be 2 new primary schools in Sengkang West which will be ready in 2013/2014. We are also working wiht MCYS/MOE to increase the number of childcare and preschool facilities too.

  2. Hi,

This is indeed good news. I look forward to having the service located in SK west. It’s a lot of “taiji” with the AMK offices currently. Had a few issues regarding estate cleanliness and town council S&C charges earlier, and was pushed around a few times to get my concerns heard. Service by the tc personnel is so cold and definitely can be improved. They seem so distant from us.

Thank you and please keep up the great work. Really appreciate it. Hope to see improvement in public transportation soon too.

  3. Mr.Lam

I will work with LTA and SBST on this. Thanks.

  4. As a middle income person and sole breadwinner, Childcare centre kills me with the amount they charge.

Subsidy is only give if both parents are working….I can’t afford a maid so how will my wife work? If I can afford a maid….I can pay the childcare fee….ironic isn’t it?

  5. I have been living in Sengkang for more than 10years. Sad to say that till to-date there is still not much amenity & offices around the neighbourhood. Unlike Jurong and Tampines, they have big shopping malls and offices. People can work near their home. Are there plans from the government to built offices in suburb area like Sengkang? Are there any upcoming bigger malls rather then just a miserable Compasspoint?

  6. I would like to give a feedback on the cleaning of lift lobbies at my flat. I find that even though “hi jet sprays” are used, it still does not clean vomit stains that have been “baked in” by the weather. Is it possible to have the cleaners do a more thorough job? I’m staying at Blk 441C Fernvale Road level 7.

Thanks for the feedback. The Tc will work with the conservancy contractor to rectify this.

  7. Currently there is no stairs or pathway created down the slope from Blk 410B Fernvale road to the main road. Is there anyway that the Town Council can provide a few stair on the slop area so that the resident do not need to go a long way to reach the main road.
    Thank you

Thanks. I have asked TC to look into this feedback.

  8. Hi,
The TC has promise to look into alot of things but either got no reply or they push to some other department. Specially the stair Kwee Hoon has mention, has been feedback to TC since march this year, no reply or answer from the TC yet.

In addition, the lift of blk 410A take turn to “go holiday”. The TC office is just few blk away. I will not look for TC directly as they tend or love to push things around and I kinda get sick of it.

I think the TC officers are giving the gov a super bad name…

  9. Hi,

I support the statement given by keng yong in the earlier post. It really makes me wonder why I’m paying my s&c charges for. If you are in contacts with the tc, is it possible to get them to solve the worm infestation at the sky garden? It doesn’t seem to have any improvement over these few months.

The Town Council is working with the contractor to solve this worm infestation. From what I was told, the situation usually worsens after severe downpour and as the sky garden is situated nearer to resieential areas, the problem seems to be more apparent.

  10. Hi, Dr Lam,

i have been staying fernvale road for 7 years and like this quite and peaceful place but recently noticed that there is a lot of getai shows near the temple at fernvale lane. i can understand if it held in the weekend but some time it also held in weekdays and quite often and passed 10pm. The sound has caused disturb to my rest.
Just wondering, is there any control on the number of getai shows for each place and for each month that the getai can hold and would like to know what is the timing that the getai will end the show?
    Thanks

  11. Hi,
I am a resident staying in Blk 445B. The cleanliness of this block need to be review. I saw bags of rubbish laying on the pillars on levels between 5th to 14th floors and they were already there for almost 3 weeks. This noise from the multi-storey carpark, which I believed is the tap sound, is so irritating every night. Can someone please fix the tap and the rubbish?

    Thanks,
    Mrs Lim

  12. I am the resident of Sengkang Anchorvale Rd Blk310B. I am in here for 11Years andI like the Enviroment here but the only made unhappy is the Lift. Since I stay here the Lift have given my family member horrible experirence. It either the push button stuck or not function (When press it can feel the button is hard), my wife and children have been clamp by the lift door although I had press the button outside of the lift or the door open button. I suspect the lift door sensor have problem also because most of the lift door usually when close and people still not go into the lift fully the door sensor will open the door automatically.Today afternoon is the most I feel acceptable, 3 lifts are breakdown at the sametimes and I have to bring 5 bags of good climb up to 16 floor. Kindly look into it and monitor the Lift Maintenance result. Thank you.

  13. RE: NO FREE PARKING ON SUNDAY

    Hi Sir,

My parent moved in to Fernvale Lane for almost a year, this affected me for awhile, till today decided to write to check.

Wandering, what’s the reason for no free parking on Sunday & PH for Blk 441, BUT for parking at Fernvale LRT station, it’s free on Sunday

    Regards,
    Wandering

This is due to high demand for seasoned parking at these MSCPs. I have received similar feedback and few months ago, we have opened up the free parking on sundays and public hiolidays scheme for those at Blk 436/8. We are currently reviewing those in your area and will likely extend to them as well.

  14. I would like to know when is the new primary school launching? Is there by any chance of knowing the school name? As I have a girl whom I have to register for primary 1 next year. My son is currently schooling at Fernvale Primary School but the school’s academic progress is not that good. The new primary school is directly in front of block which is more convenient for me. Hope you can reply to my queries. Thank you.

    Pin Min’s Reply:

The completeion date of the new primary school should be in 2013/14. As for the name, MOE has not revelaed yet. I will update residents when I have received more detailed info from MOE.

  15. Dear Dr Lam,

I would like to take this opportunity to talk about the bus services issues. Currently, there is no direct bus to Hougang or Ang Mo Kio from SengKang West. It caused a lot of inconvenience to the people who need to transfer buses. Because they had to walk to the main road Sengkang East avenue to take bus to another location where they have to transfer for another bus to their workplaces or schools. I hope that you will look into this issue and consider some implemention of bus services.
    Thankyou.

  16. Hi Dr Lam,

I wish to highlight to you that i believe there were lots of mosquitoes at block 311A Anchorvale Lane. I was shocked to discover that i have 20 over mosquito bite marks all over my body after a running session around the neighbourhood just now. Then my mom suddenly remember and told me that my little nephew was bitten nearly as badly as me downstair when he came over during chinese new year with my cousin.

Before anymore people become a victim of mosquito bites.

  17. Hi Dr. Lam,

I’m a resident of Fernvale Road, 436D. This is an issue that’s getting out of hand now and I wish for this to be highlighted. From March 22 2012, I have been hearing slight drilling sounds at night. It starts from late evening all the way till morning. It sounds more like a machine that has is making an awfully loud humming sound. Since it gets really quiet at night, the humming sound just gets louder when I try to sleep. I’m sure the residents of 436 at the lower level might be facing the same issue. Please look into this ASAP as it’s been going on for more than a week now.

    Thank you.
